The ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾ Old Scholars Association has the constitutional right and obligation to offer Bursaries to deserving students according to the following criteria:
1. Eligibility
1.1. The student must have at least one parent who is an Old Scholar of Girton, King’s, or ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾.
1.2. Applicants must be current students entering Year 11 or Year 12 at ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾.
1.3. Students must be currently enrolled at the school. Bursaries are not available for new students.
1.4. This policy does not deal with an Award or Scholarship as provided for under the POSA Rules.
2. Award Period
2.1. The Bursary is awarded for a fixed period of one year.
2.2. An extension for a further year may be considered by the Committee, following receipt of a request for extension from the recipient. This would be reviewed in September of the year in which the Bursary is held.
2.3. More than one bursary may be appointed in any given year.
3. Nature of Award
3.1. The Bursary will be provided exclusively as a tuition fee remission.
3.2. The value of the remission will be variable and determined by the Committee in each case.
4. Selection Criteria
4.1. In addition to the eligibility requirements, the Committee will consider:
- Academic prowess and potential
- Contribution to the school community
- Financial need of the parents
5. Application Process
5.1. An official application form will be available from the Old Scholars’ Office.
5.2. Applications may be submitted at any time in the year prior to the advertised cut-off date.
5.3. Applications must be received by the cut-off date; late applications will not be accepted.
5.4. The POSA President and the School Principal will review applications jointly and determine award recipients. If there is disagreement between the POSA President and the School Principal on award recipients, the recommendation of the School Principal will be considered by the Committee with the decision being made by the Committee.
5.5. All applications will be treated with the strictest confidentiality having regard to the principles of privacy and the basis of and ultimate decision of the Committee, The President and the School Principal is confidential to POSA and the School.
5.6. Bursaries will be awarded by the end of September each year.
6. Conditions of Award
6.1. Successful applicants may be asked to provide feedback to POSA at the end of the bursary period.
6.2. Recipients must maintain a code of conduct consistent with the aims and values of ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÕ¾ and the honour of being a bursary holder. Bursaries may be withdrawn if Student Charter expectations are not met. This would be determined in conjunction with the Principal.
